MELTON'S junior footballers are leading the fight against cancer, and other areas' teams are being encouraged to follow the lead.
Melton and Diggers Rest juniors will wear yellow armbands during their round 12 match on July 18 for the Call to Arms campaign.
The clubs have urged all players to take part in the cause and make a gold coin donation for the armband.
By wearing them, players will help increase cancer understanding and raise funds.
Supporters will also be encouraged to help raise money on the day by buying coffee from the club canteen.
A dollar from each cup will be donated.
Donation boxes will be placed around the ground.
Club officials said that despite many of the clubs being small with only one or two teams, every little bit could help.
Call To Arms is a Cancer Council annual event which enables sports groups to help raise funds and awareness for men with cancer.
Sports teams of any code can register their club for the campaign at Call to Arms here.
